Red Nose Day- Quick Activity Ideas

Red Nose Day is major fundraising and awareness campaign for Red Nose. The First Red Nose Day was held in 1988 in Australia and since then it has become a beloved day for Australians to get silly and fundraise to help save little lives and support families. This event happens Every year on the second Friday in August.
Below are some ideas you can use with young children and a link to our free pack to document the learning.
Red Nose Craft Session
Activity: Provide children with various craft materials like coloured paper, markers, glitter, and glue. Encourage them to create their own 'red noses' or related artwork.
Learning Outcome: Outcome 4.4 – Children resource their own learning through connecting with people, place, technologies, and natural and processed materials.
Face Painting
Activity: Organise a face painting station with safe and washable paints. Children can choose to have a red nose painted or other related designs.
Learning Outcome: Outcome 1.1 – Children feel safe, secure, and supported.
Red Nose Day Storytime
Activity: Read a child-friendly book or story about helping others, emphasising the purpose of Red Nose Day. Discuss the story afterwards.
Learning Outcome: Outcome 5.1 – Children interact verbally and non-verbally with others for a range of purposes.
Red Nose Day Parade
Activity: Allow children to dress up in fun and silly costumes, perhaps with a red theme, and organise a mini parade.
Learning Outcome: Outcome 2.4 – Children become socially responsible and show respect for the environment.
Baking Red Nose Cookies
Activity: With supervision, kids can help make simple cookies or biscuits shaped or decorated like red noses.
Learning Outcome: Outcome 3.2 – Children take increasing responsibility for their own health and physical wellbeing.
Red Nose Dance Party
Activity: Play some fun, child-friendly tunes and have a dance session. Maybe even teach them a simple dance routine.
Learning Outcome: Outcome 1.2 – Children develop their emerging autonomy, interdependence, resilience, and sense of agency.
Red Nose Day Matching Game
Activity: Use red nose pictures or related images and create a memory card game for children to match pairs.
Learning Outcome: Outcome 4.2 – Children develop a range of skills and processes such as problem-solving, inquiry, experimentation, hypothesising, researching, and investigating.
Finger Painting
Activity: Let children explore with red paint and their fingers, maybe making red nose prints or similar art.
Learning Outcome: Outcome 5.4 – Children begin to understand how symbols and pattern systems work.
Red Nose Day Sing-along
Activity: Teach children a simple, catchy song related to Red Nose Day or the theme of helping others.
Learning Outcome: Outcome 5.2 – Children engage with a range of texts and gain meaning from these texts.
